FROM DOUG TO DIG

It’s always been a dream of mine to own my own business so when the opportunity came along in April of 2008 I grabbed. The timing was perfect, over the previous winter I had been working on several cheese dip recipes with the thought of selling them someday.

The story actually begins on a plane ride to San Fransisco a few months earlier. I had always been the “dip guy” bringing my delicious concoctions to various parties and pot lucks. They had always gone over well, the guests raving and requesting the recipe. I thought, “If they like it that much, why couldn’t I pack it and sell it?” At the end of the plane ride I was convinced that this is something I could do. At the very least it would be a fun experience. Through much trial and error I worked on developing three distinctive dips to start my endeavor.

By spring I was confident I had the dips that people would love. Everything else in my life seemed to be pointing toward taking this chance so I pulled the trigger. In April I was off and running. I’m not sure where this will lead me but I’m excited about the possibilities and I hope everyone will be just as excited to try Dig Dips and savor all the hard work and caring that goes into every batch.

Look for Dig Dips at Chicago festivals and farmer’s markets this summer and at local food stores this fall!
